The PhD Days is an event offered to a select cohort of around 20 PhD researchers at any stage of their doctoral studies. The event will take place on Monday, 27 May 2024 (10 am – 6 pm) and Tuesday, 28 May 2024 (9.30 am – 12 pm), just before the start of the main GRONEN conference.

Designed as an interactive and inclusive forum, the PhD Days aim to address the unique career needs and concerns of PhD researchers. This is an excellent opportunity for you to receive valuable, constructive feedback on your work and to network with fellow participants before the main conference. The event features a series of engaging sessions focused on key areas such as navigating the PhD journey, understanding the job market, publishing research, as well as providing tailored feedback on your PhD research, among other topics.

How to apply

The submission system for the PhD Days is separate from that of the main conference.

To apply, please complete and submit this form by 31 January 2024.You are required to submit an extended abstract of around 2,000 words (excluding references) and a one-page motivation letter. Please use font size 12 and single spacing in both documents. Please prepare your files before completing the form as they should be added as attachments.

Your extended abstract must include a title, name(s) and author(s) affiliation(s), an introduction outlining the research question(s) and objective(s) of the paper, the theoretical background, methodology, as well as a discussion and conclusion sections. If you are a first-year PhD researcher, you may submit a research proposal instead of a paper abstract. Your proposal must follow the same formatting requirements as those for the extended abstract.

If you are planning to also submit a full paper for the main GRONEN conference, your extended abstract can draw on the same paper. Please note that the guidelines for full-paper submissions are different from those for the PhD Days.

PhD researchers benefit from a reduced conference fee and there is no additional fee for attending the PhD Days.
