Welcome to the official website of the Group for Research on Organizations and the Natural Environment (GRONEN) community.<\/p>\n

GRONEN is a member-based association of engaged scholars focused on developing and contributing to high-quality research regarding organizations and sustainability. GRONEN aims to create knowledge that helps address the world\u2019s complex sustainability problems.<\/p>\n

Our mission<\/strong><\/h3>\n

GRONEN aspires to be a leading community for sustainability-focused research, engagement, and leadership, linking science, education and practice to encourage innovation, inclusivity, resilience, and positive global impact. We believe in the transformative potential of our scholarly community. We recognize that addressing complex sustainability challenges requires intentional inclusivity grounded in a strong culture of welcoming and openness. We are committed to supporting dialogue at the nexus of research, education, and practice. In doing so, we strive to empower members to contribute to organizational scholarship that informs positive sustainability outcomes.<\/p>\n

      What is GRONEN\u2019s history?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      In 2003, GRONEN was inspired at the Seattle Academy of Management Conference, when a group of scholars discussed how we might promote more opportunities for interaction among international scholars working on sustainability issues. Ten years later, the GRONEN association was formalized in Zurich, Switzerland, with the ambitious goal of launching a suite of more diverse and ambitious initiatives. Continuing our evolution, in 2026, GRONEN became a member-based association. This represents an important milestone in the association\u2019s evolution, which now provides greater access for our broader community to participate in GRONEN\u2019s governance.<\/p>\n

      Open to scholars of all nationalities, GRONEN has cultivated a network of scholars from more than 100 universities and institutions who have engaged with GRONEN\u2019s initiatives, including its biennial conference, PhD consortium, workshops, and innovative programming created by its reading group, early career team, and teaching team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
